The gold rush for Facebook Page vanity URLs is upon us

Great news for Facebook Page owners: if you have more than 1,000 fans (as of May 31, 2009), you’ll very soon be able to claim a personalized vanity URL for your Page. For many of you, this means no more long number strings at the end of your addresses: instead of www.facebook.com/samuelbeckett/74423230889, for example, you might be able to reserve something short (and more marketable) like www.facebook.com/sambeckett.

Page admins can choose and sign up for their personalized URLs beginning at 12:01am EST on Saturday, June 13. Facebook is running this program on a first-come, first-serve basis, so if you’re reading this we recommend that you act immediately when the time comes.

Personalized Page URLs will be a great benefit for brand marketers. Imagine all of the marketing and advertising collateral that you create and distribute, whether these are email blasts, banner and video ads, flyers, or something else. Assuming that you’re able to reserve a great name, your new URL will now be suitable for inline inclusion right on/in these materials.

We hope that you get the URL you want!
