Involver Powers USA TODAY’s Ad Meter for Super Bowl
We’re a bay area-based company, and we’re still getting over the sting of the Niners coming so close and then falling just short of their first Super Bowl since the ’94 season. In fact, we still haven’t processed it. May take awhile. But nothing can slow our roll when it comes to social media. To that end, we’re thrilled to be teaming up with USA TODAY and Facebook on a new web and mobile experience that focuses on what many consider the REAL main event of the Super Bowl: the ads.
This year, USA TODAY and Facebook are partnering on the USA TODAY Facebook Super Bowl Ad Meter, powered by Involver. In a new web and mobile experience that will live on admeter.usatoday.com, Facebook.com/sports and some Facebook brand Pages, Facebook users will be able to view, rate and share Super Bowl ads during the game and after on the web or via their mobile devices. The winner of the USA TODAY Facebook Super Bowl Ad Meter will be declared on Wednesday, February 8th.
The USA TODAY Facebook Super Bowl Ad Meter blends the industry authority of USA TODAY’s Ad Meter – which has been around since 1989 – with the social engagement Facebook enables across platforms and devices.
Social media has changed the way people share and discover topics of interest, and how we engage with each other and with our favorite athletes, celebrities and brands. The Ad Meter experience is a pretty natural evolution of how we discuss and rate ads during and after the Super Bowl – far and away the most popular ad spend day of the year for many big brands.
The 2012 Ad Meter adds tremendous value to the post-game analysis of Super Bowl ads – for both people and brands – because on Facebook, word-of-mouth happens at an unprecedented scale. Will we have another Volkswagen Star Wars runway hit? This year we’ll know in real-time the Facebook community will decide who wins Ad Meter.
Of course, USA TODAY will also gather a panel of viewers to watch the Super Bowls ads live during the game, and rate them in real-time. Those results will be reported following the game on USATODAY.com and in USA TODAY print editions on Monday, February. 6th.
We’re stoked to play such a key role in bringing together Facebook and USA TODAY to put consumers at the center of advertising’s biggest annual event.
To join in the discussion, and rate the best and worst ads during the big game, check out or visit http://Facebook.com/Sports.
** Voting via the USA TODAY Facebook Super Bowl Ad Meter app will run from the beginning of the game until Tuesday, February 7th at 6:00 PM Eastern Standard Time.
